Admissions

At Hague Bar Primary School, we warmly welcome children and families from all cultures, backgrounds and faiths. Whether your child is preparing to start Reception or joining us during the school year, we understand that choosing a school is an important decision for the whole family.

We are proud to be a small, friendly and inclusive school where every child is known, valued and encouraged to thrive. Our caring staff provide a creative and engaging curriculum, supported by enriching activities and outdoor learning opportunities, including Forest School.

We believe the best way to discover what makes Hague Bar special is to come and experience it for yourself. We offer personal guided tours with our Head of School, Miss Abby Moss, giving you the opportunity to explore our learning environment, see teaching and learning in action, learn more about our mixed-age classes, curriculum and Forest School, meet our friendly team and ask any questions you may have about your child and their individual needs.

We would love to show you what makes Hague Bar such a special place. To arrange a personal tour, please contact the school and we will be happy to arrange a convenient time for you to visit.

Applying for a place

Our admissions are managed by Derbyshire County Council. We also welcome applications from families living in neighbouring local authority areas, including Cheshire East, Stockport and Tameside.

To apply for a school place, please visit the Derbyshire County Council school admissions website.

Applying for a Reception place

Applications for Reception places are coordinated by the local authority responsible for your home address.

If you live in Derbyshire, you should apply through Derbyshire County Council, even if you are also applying for schools located in another council area.

Families living outside Derbyshire, including those in Cheshire East, Stockport or Tameside, are also very welcome to apply for a place at Hague Bar. However, you should submit your application through your own home local authority, even though Hague Bar is a Derbyshire school.

Joining Hague Bar during the school year

We also welcome enquiries from families looking for a school place outside the usual Reception admissions process, including those who are moving into the area or considering a change of school. These are known as in-year admissions. If you would like your child to join Hague Bar during the school year, please contact us to discuss availability and arrange a visit. Applications for a place at a Derbyshire school should then be made by following the relevant local authority guidance.

Admissions policy

Our Admissions Policy provides further information about the school's admission arrangements and how applications are considered.

A copy of the current Admissions Policy is available on our Policies page. Please contact the school if you need help accessing the policy, require it in a different format or would like to discuss the application process.
